WebFeb 11, 2012 · According to crowther audio's site, the hot cake is a buffered pedal. Sabrotone has a layout for a buffered mojocake. The buffer is really nice. They may well have changed the circuit again to add a buffer, but the original 1977 and also 2003 versions this is based on definitely didn't have one. WebJun 25, 2010 · So I'm on an OD quest. Anything comparable to the Hot Cake? I just sold one, but am on the look for that sound, but maybe more dynamic. And tighter at higher gain. Less fizz on the decay. Maybe that's asking too much. I mainly sold it to try something different and see how it reacts with my amp/ guitar combo.
